Postdoc (Assistant Professor) in Biomolecular Machines Laboratory – Structural Engineering of Cell-Penetrating Peptides
The Centre of New Technologies at the University of Warsaw is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (Assistant Professor) to join the Biomolecular Machines Laboratory. The project, led by Professor Joanna Trylska, focuses on the structural engineering of cell-penetrating peptides into biostable antibacterials to combat drug-resistant pathogens. This research bridges chemistry, physics, and biological sciences, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work in molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry.
The successful candidate will be involved in the design and synthesis of peptides and peptidomimetics, performing microbiology experiments on bacteria, co-cultures, and biofilms, including microbial growth inhibition assays, fluorescence assays, and membrane penetration assays. Additional responsibilities include hemolytic activity tests, cytotoxicity assays, preparing reports and presentations, and training junior scientists. The position is full-time and funded by the National Centre of Science OPUS 29 grant, providing a competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for scientific development and international collaborations.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in biological, physical, chemical, engineering, or related sciences, obtained no more than 12 years prior to employment. The PhD must be from a country in the EU, EFTA, OECD, or nostrified by the date of employment. Candidates should demonstrate research achievements, including publications in peer-reviewed journals, and have experience in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry/biophysics techniques. Excellent English communication skills are required, and familiarity with peptide synthesis and relevant assays is preferred.
To apply, submit a short cover letter (email form accepted), CV with achievements and references, PhD certificate, and signed information on personal data processing to [email protected] with 'CeNT-11-2026' as the email title. Please review the Open, Transparent and Merit-Based Recruitment Policy and other relevant documents. The application deadline is April 3, 2026, and results will be announced by email and on the CeNT website after April 17, 2026.
