Postdoctoral Researcher in Robotic Manipulation, Differential Geometry, and Geometric Deep Learning

Postdoctoral researcher opening in the STARS Laboratory at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (University of Toronto) in robotic manipulation and mobile manipulation . The research focus includes differential-geometric methods and geometric deep learning for robot perception, representation, planning, and control. The successful candidate will contribute to multiple projects, help shape new research directions, and work with industrial collaborators and sponsors. This position is designed to support an academic or industrial research career, with training in leadership, grant writing, project development, and student supervision/mentoring. Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. in robotics or a closely related field, strong mathematical background, excellent English, and programming experience in C++, Python, and/or Julia. Experience with Lie groups, geometric methods, manipulation, tactile sensing, and grasping is highly desirable. Funding: one-year initial appointment with the possibility of renewal for at least one additional year; salary is above the standard postdoctoral rate and highly competitive.
