Joseph Longo

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is advertising a postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Longo in the Department of Immunology. The Longo Lab studies how metabolism and nutritional programming regulate anti-tumor immunity and tumor progression , with a focus on identifying actionable metabolic strategies to treat cancer. The project sits at the intersection of cancer metabolism , immunometabolism , tumor immunology , tumor microenvironment , and tumor biology . The lab uses multidisciplinary approaches including physiologically relevant in vitro systems, genetically engineered mouse models, stable isotope tracing, and other state-of-the-art methods to study how cancer cells and tumor-resident immune cells sense, acquire, and utilize nutrients. The successful candidate will develop and lead independent and collaborative research projects, design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, present findings, prepare manuscripts and fellowship/grant applications, and collaborate with laboratory members and institutional partners. The position offers scientific independence, mentorship, professional development, and a highly collaborative cancer research environment. Applicants should be completing a PhD or have recently earned a PhD in immunology , cancer biology , molecular biology , metabolism , or a related field. Strong scientific productivity, communication skills, teamwork, and organization are expected. Experience with mouse models, cancer immunology, immunotherapy, or metabolism is preferred but not required. Funding is salary-based and aligned with relevant research experience and the NIH pay scale.
