The research will examine the species’ current distribution and ecological impacts as it expands through the Illinois and Mississippi River systems. This project uses a mix of environmental DNA (eDNA) , diet metabarcoding , and genomics , and offers opportunities to collaborate with state and federal scientists on work with direct management relevance. Students interested in aquatic ecology, fisheries, wildlife biology, molecular ecology, and conservation applications are especially encouraged to apply.
