PhD in Sustainable Polymer Materials for Advanced Wound Care (HEAL4WARD DC9)

HEAL4WARD is recruiting for an international PhD position in sustainable polymer materials for advanced wound care, specifically the DC9 project: Synthesis and design optimisation of biobased furan (co)polymers for advanced scaffolding . This opportunity is part of the HEAL4WARD Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network, which is training 11 Doctoral Candidates to develop next-generation solutions for wound infection diagnosis and treatment. The network combines nanomaterials , antimicrobial strategies , 3D printing , advanced sensing , and AI for personalised infection management. The DC9 PhD will be hosted at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, in the group of Dina Maniar , with Prof. Katja Loos as co-supervisor and Prof. Mathias Destarac as external co-supervisor. Planned secondments include the University of Nottingham and CNRS-SOFTMAT in Toulouse. The project is fully funded for 36 months and includes a prestigious MSCA fellowship, international mobility, interdisciplinary training, and research visits across Europe. The research focus is on biobased furan copolymers , polymer synthesis, scaffold design, and additive manufacturing for advanced wound-care applications. Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold an MSc or equivalent in a relevant field, be eligible for PhD enrolment, and satisfy the MSCA mobility rule . The call is open to applicants of any nationality. Interested candidates should read the full project details and specific requirements, then apply via the linked vacancy/application page for DC9.
