Assistant Professor in Electronic Photonic Integration
The Eindhoven University of Technology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Electronic Photonic Integration within the Photonic Integration (PhI) group of the Electrical Engineering department. This role focuses on developing next-generation technologies for ultra-fast, energy-efficient sensors, imaging systems, and advanced communication devices by integrating high-performance electronic and photonic technologies. The group is a European leader in photonic integrated circuits (PICs), particularly in indium phosphide (InP) technology, and is actively involved in European Chips Act projects and pilot lines. Research activities span cleanroom process development, component design, and application-specific integrated circuits, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and strong collaborations within the local high-tech ecosystem.
The successful candidate will develop innovative integration technologies combining advanced electronics and photonics for high-performance circuits, conduct research in high-speed III-V component design, semiconductor epitaxial engineering, and fabrication of active components such as diodes, HEMTs, and HBTs. The position also involves exploring co-design and integration methods for electronic and photonic devices, building new research lines for chip-based circuits with applications in data centers, AI acceleration, 6G, radar, and sensor technologies, and contributing to the educational mission by teaching MSc courses and supervising students at all levels.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field, with expertise in high-speed III-V component design, semiconductor epitaxial engineering, or fabrication of active components. Strong research potential, multidisciplinary collaboration skills, teaching affinity, and motivation to secure research funding are essential. The position offers a competitive salary (scale 11: €4,728–€6,433 gross per month full-time), year-end bonus, vacation pay, mentoring, career development, and support for international candidates, including tax compensation and partner career support.
The application deadline is February 27, 2026. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV with publications and references, a description of scientific interests and plans, and a statement of teaching goals and experience via the online application portal.
