About

Leon De Windt is a Professor and Chair at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. His research primarily focuses on non-coding RNAs, the role of circulating miR-216a as a biomarker for metabolic alterations and obesity in women, and the differences in the transcriptomic landscape between naturally aged and accelerated aged murine hearts. Additionally, he explores modeling cardiovascular diseases using hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes in both 2D and 3D cultures, along with investigating the mechanisms by which miR-337-3p promotes adipocyte browning through the inhibition of TWIST1.
