The Grossmann Lab at University of Massachusetts Amherst is recruiting two graduate students for spring 2027 in Food Science . PhD — Precision Fermentation : a newly launched, fully funded 4-year project with stipend + tuition support. The research focuses on developing next-generation protein ingredients through microbial expression systems and protein expression . Applicants should have an MS in a related field or relevant industry experience; hands-on protein expression experience is preferred. MS — Fermentation & Extrusion Processing : for a student with a strong undergraduate degree in food science or a related field and interest in fermentation and high-moisture extrusion .
