The Hector Fellow Academy is offering a fully funded PhD position in neuroscience and regenerative medicine, focusing on modeling the human adult brain injury environment for repair. The project investigates how injury environments in the human brain affect neuronal replacement, using advanced methods such as proteomics, decellularization, and iPSC-derived neurons. The research aims to explore glial cell reprogramming into functional neurons and identify conditions that support synapse formation. The position is supervised by Professor Magdalena Götz, Chair of Physiological Genomics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Director of the Institute of Stem Cell Research at Helmholtz Munich, renowned for her pioneering work in brain development and neuronal reprogramming. The research will be conducted at the Biomedical Center, LMU Munich and Helmholtz Center Munich. Applicants must have a Master's degree in biology or material chemistry and excellent English skills.
