The Hector Fellow Academy is offering an exciting Ph.D. opportunity in neuroscience and regenerative medicine:
?? Modeling the Human Adult Brain Injury Environment for Repair
This project will investigate how injury environments in the human brain affect neuronal replacement. Using advanced methods such as proteomics, decellularization, and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons, you will explore how glial cells can be reprogrammed into functional neurons and identify conditions that support synapse formation.
You will be supervised by Hector Fellow Prof. Dr. Magdalena Götz, Chair of Physiological Genomics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München . She is also the Director of the Institute of Stem Cell Research at the Helmholtz Munich . She is internationally recognized for her pioneering research on brain development and her discovery of direct neuronal reprogramming from glial cells.
