Dr. María Isabel Hernández-Alvarez is an Associate Professor and Group Leader at the University of Barcelona, Spain. Her research focuses on mitochondrial metabolism, obesity, and metabolic disorders, as highlighted in her recent articles examining the effects of genetic mutations on mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in different conditions. She is actively involved in studying the implications of mitochondrial and peroxisomal metabolism in obesity and type 2 diabetes, as well as the cellular mechanisms underlying leukemic cell survival and metabolism.
