The University of Twente's Integrated Circuit Design (ICD) group, led by Professor Bram Nauta and a team of renowned professors, is offering a PhD position focused on analog and radio frequency (RF) integrated circuits. The group is internationally recognized for pioneering research and high-impact inventions in areas such as analog filters, thermal noise cancelling amplifiers, ultra-low power analog-to-digital converters, software-defined radio, mixer-first receivers, N-path filters, and sub-sampling phase locked loops. The ICD group maintains strong collaborations with the global semiconductor industry and provides access to advanced CMOS fabrication technology and a well-equipped laboratory for test-chip evaluation. The research environment is highly collaborative, with a focus on fundamental solutions for practical problems, and students benefit from the group's broad expertise and industry connections. PhD candidates will be supervised by a team of leading professors and will participate in a stimulating scientific ecosystem within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). The position is full-time for four years, with a qualifier in the first year, and offers a competitive salary, holiday allowance, year-end bonus, pension scheme, and a personalized training program. Applicants must hold a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Analog or RF design, demonstrate excellent academic performance, and possess strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. Fluency in English is required, verified by TOEFL or IELTS. Applications are accepted year-round, with no fixed deadline, and candidates can start their PhD project at any time during the academic year. The application process includes submission of a motivation letter, CV, publication list, referee contacts, academic transcripts, and English language test scores. For further information, applicants may contact the group secretary. The University of Twente is committed to shaping society through cutting-edge research and collaboration with industrial partners, and the ICD group is at the forefront of innovation in integrated circuit design.
