A fully funded PhD studentship is available in the Tissue Cross-Talk in Health and Disease Laboratory at the University of Birmingham, supervised by Associate Professor Martin Whitham and Professor Sam Lucas. The project, entitled 'Exercise-Induced Extracellular Vesicles and Tissue Crosstalk: Mechanisms, Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Potential,' investigates how nano-sized extracellular vesicles released during exercise mediate inter-tissue communication and contribute to health and disease prevention. The research will employ advanced omics techniques, quantitative proteomics, and novel tracking methods to study the origin, cargo, and functional impact of exercise-induced vesicles. The successful candidate will receive close supervision, exceptional training, and a comprehensive support package including UK tuition fees, a tax-free stipend, travel and conference budget, consumables budget, and a MacBook. Applicants should have a strong background in biological sciences or physiology and an interest in exercise biology and molecular techniques. The lab offers a collaborative and supportive environment with regular meetings and flexible working patterns.
