Wageningen University & Research is advertising a postdoctoral researcher position in the Biosystematics Group on plant immune responses against insect egg deposition . The project is part of the NWO Open Technology Programme grant Early Intervention Pest Resistance (EI-RESIST): Understanding and harnessing egg-killing traits for crop resistance breeding , in collaboration with Klaas Bouwmeester, Lotte Caarls, Robin van Velzen, and plant breeding companies. The postdoc will join an insect-focused team that includes postdoc Peter Karssemeijer, two PhD researchers, and two technicians. Research tasks include characterising plant immune receptor genes, identifying their intra- and interspecific diversity, and investigating downstream immune pathways. The role also includes co-supervision of two PhD students as well as MSc/BSc students. This opportunity is aimed at early-career postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in Biology or Plant Sciences , ideally with a specialisation in entomology , phytopathology , microbiology , or a related area.
