PhD and Postdoc Positions in Empirical Economics, Data Science, and Causal AI at TUM Heilbronn

Technische Universität München (TUM), Campus Heilbronn, is advertising 3 PhD positions in Empirical Economics & Data Science at the Heilbronn Data Science Center and the TUM School of Management. The research environment is interdisciplinary and sits at the intersection of econometrics , innovation policy , technology management , and causal AI . The professorship focuses on the societal and managerial implications of causal AI, including fairness, reliability, transparency, decision-making, organizational design, and firm strategy. Applicants with an interest or background in causal data science are especially encouraged to apply, but the research portfolio is broad and candidates may pursue topics aligned with their interests and strengths. Successful candidates will contribute to publications in leading international journals, present at international conferences, teach in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, supervise theses, and collaborate with academic and industry partners. The role is based at TUM Campus Heilbronn, part of one of Europe’s leading universities with strong research excellence, industry ties, and an international environment. Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Economics, Data Science, Management, or a related field; strong quantitative and statistical background; programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages; ability to conduct independent rigorous research; experience with large datasets is advantageous; excellent English communication; and strong teamwork/organizational skills.
