Postdoctoral Researcher in Geochronology and Applied Geochemistry

Southern Cross University is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher in Geochronology and Applied Geochemistry within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The role is based at Lismore, New South Wales, Australia , and is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 5 years at ACAD Level B. The research focus is strongly centered on geochronology , applied geochemistry , analytical chemistry , and archaeological science , with work on archaeological and cultural heritage materials, dating inorganic materials from arid and challenging depositional environments, and fieldwork in remote regions of Australia. The post also welcomes broader geochemistry applications, especially in health and medicine. The position offers access to advanced analytical instrumentation and strong academic and technical support, and is linked to an Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre project . The salary is AUD 114,482–135,392 per annum plus 17% superannuation , with total remuneration up to AUD 158,409 . Applicants should hold a PhD in geochemistry, analytical chemistry, geochronology, archaeological science, Earth sciences, environmental sciences, geosciences, or a related discipline. Experience with geochemical, isotopic, or analytical chemistry techniques is required. Highly regarded skills include uranium-series dating, isotope geochemistry, mass spectrometry, laser ablation, ICP-MS, MC-ICP-MS, LA-ICP-MS, LA-MC-ICP-MS, organic geochemistry, HDR supervision, and working with Indigenous communities.
