Postdoc in Molecular Therapy for EYS-Associated Retinal Disease
Postdoc opportunity in molecular therapy for EYS-associated retinal disease at Radboud university medical center (Nijmegen, Netherlands).
The research project focuses on pathogenic variants in the
EYS
gene, a recurrent cause of autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa and progressive vision loss. The postdoc will help develop, test, and optimize therapeutic strategies for EYS-associated retinal disease using zebrafish models and patient-derived iPSC retinal organoids.
Research methods include antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) and CRISPR/Cas-based molecular interventions, cell culture, iPSC and retinal organoid work, cloning, RT-PCR, Western blot, immunocyto-/histochemistry, and generation/maintenance of mutant zebrafish models. The role is based in the research group of prof. dr. Rob Collin in the Department of Human Genetics, with collaborations inside Radboudumc and internationally.
Eligibility highlights:
a PhD in Molecular Life Sciences is required, ideally with experience in molecular therapies and/or retinal research. Strong experience with retinal research, ASO or CRISPR/Cas9, iPSC-derived retinal organoids, and/or zebrafish is a plus. Applicants should be able to work independently and in a team, communicate well, analyze data critically, and write manuscripts and reports.
Funding and contract:
fixed-term contract for 2 years, scale 10, salary €3,724 - €5,867 per month, 32 - 36 hours per week. The post includes standard employment benefits such as holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, travel reimbursement, public transport reimbursement, and home-working allowance.
