Postdoctoral Researcher in Maize–Microbe Interactions
in the
Plant Molecular Biology
section of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The position is part of
ENSA – Enabling Nutrient Symbioses in Agriculture
, an international research project focused on making farming more sustainable and equitable by expanding the use of beneficial microorganisms that help crops access essential nutrients.
The advertised project centers on the
molecular dialogue between maize and associated microorganisms
, with emphasis on beneficial symbioses, root development, and plant responses to symbiotic microbes. The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research using
molecular biology, plant physiology, microbiology, genetics, microscopy, and omics-based approaches
. The role also includes presenting results, publishing in high-quality journals, collaborating with international partners, and contributing to the supervision of MSc and PhD students.
Eligibility highlights:
applicants should hold a PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Plant Biology, or a related field. Strong experience with maize genetics and phenotypic analyses is preferred, especially in root development or maize-microbe interactions. Skills in molecular and genetic techniques are required, while genome editing, transcriptomics, and microscopy are advantageous. Excellent English communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are expected.
Funding and appointment:
this is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral appointment at Aarhus University, starting on 1 October 2026 (or soon thereafter) and ending on 31 March 2028. Salary is determined by seniority under the Danish collective labour agreement; no specific stipend amount is listed.
