About
Stephanie Christine Ganal-Vonarburg is an Assistant Professor at the University of Bern in Switzerland. Her research focuses on the interactions between gut microbiota and the host's immune system, including studies on CNS-GVHD modulation, intestinal IgA induction, and the impact of diet on microbiome responses. Additionally, she investigates the protective effects of intestinal microbiota in early-life diabetes and the development of infant intestinal microbiota in high-resource settings.

Cre-lox system is a powerful and widely used research tool developed to understand the specific role of genes. It allows to control the spatial and temporal expression of genes in experimental models. Several limitations including toxicity of Cre recombinase or incomplete excision of floxed loci have been reported in the past. To date, this is the first research study reporting that gut microbes also influence the expected phenotype of Paneth cell depletion in the genetically modified Math1 lox/lox VilCreER T2 mouse model.
