Postdoc in Transformative Policy and Law for Sustainability Transitions

Postdoc opportunity at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in transformative policy and law for sustainability transitions . This postdoc is part of the NWO-funded EXTRA project, which studies how experiments, pilots, and living labs can create long-term systemic change. The role focuses on policy experimentation , regulatory innovation , and designing interfaces between experiments and policymakers so that innovations can be mainstreamed, scaled, spread, broadened, and deepened. The successful candidate will work at the Multi Actor Systems Department and be co-supervised by the Rotterdam School of Law . The project team includes PhD researchers, postdocs, and senior researchers, and collaborates with societal partners such as AMS Institute , BouwLab , The Green Village , Nationaal Programma Samen Nieuw-West , PRICE Almere , PBL , and Provincie Noord-Holland . Research themes: renewable energy, circularity, biodiversity, transdisciplinary action research, public administration, political science, law, and sustainability governance. Eligibility highlights: PhD degree (or near completion) in public administration, political science, law, or a related field; experience with transdisciplinary and/or action research; strong communication and teamwork; organized and independent working style; fluency in Dutch and English at C1 level. Funding and contract: 2.5-year temporary postdoc appointment, 32–38 hours per week, with salary and benefits under the Dutch Universities collective agreement. The post includes pension, flexible working, training opportunities, and partially paid parental leave. Deadline: 17 August 2026. Interviews are scheduled for 31 August and 18 September.
