Postdoctoral Position in Aryl Nitro Compound Metabolism and Reactivity at the University of Pennsylvania

Postdoctoral Position in Aryl Nitro Compound Metabolism and Reactivity at the University of Pennsylvania . This collaborative postdoctoral opportunity is offered by Professor Dirk Trauner (Department of Chemistry) and Professor Trevor Penning (Perelman School of Medicine). The project focuses on the metabolism, reactivity, and biological consequences of aryl nitro compounds , including the chemical synthesis of specific substrates and the study of enzymatic and chemical transformations. Research interests include organic synthesis , chemical biology , protein science , medicinal chemistry , and related areas such as biochemistry and drug discovery . The position is designed for candidates who want to work at the interface of chemistry and biology in a highly collaborative environment spanning the School of Arts & Sciences and the Perelman School of Medicine. Applicants with backgrounds in organic synthesis, chemical biology, protein science, or medicinal chemistry are encouraged to apply. The post highlights opportunities to understand bioactivation and detoxification pathways, inform drug design and safety assessment, advance nitro-based therapeutics and prodrugs, and reveal mechanisms of toxicity and disease relevance. To apply, interested candidates should email a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for references to Dirk Trauner and Trevor Penning.
