About
Yuya Hayashi is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark. His research interests encompass immunomodulatory roles of platelet-derived extracellular vesicles, the interaction of proteins with nanoparticles, and the effects of nanomaterials on annelid immunity. Recent publications include studies on the in vivo fate of nanoparticles and the differential sequestering of nanoparticles by immune cells.

Aarhus University is inviting applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position in Spatial Transcriptomics and Extracellular Vesicle Biology, funded by the Lundbeck Foundation through the LF Experiment grant. The project, led by Associate Professor Yuya Hayashi, aims to establish clear evidence for extracellular vesicle-driven crosstalk in the brain beyond synapses, using zebrafish embryos as a model organism. Research will focus on cell-to-cell communication, neurobiology, and advanced techniques such as genetic engineering of extracellular vesicles, live embryo imaging, and single-cell/spatial transcriptomics. The successful candidate will join the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, specifically the Cellular Health, Intervention, and Nutrition section. The research group is vibrant, international, and collaborative, with English as the primary language. The project offers training in cutting-edge methods and the opportunity to work with a network of extracellular vesicle researchers (EVAnet) at Aarhus University. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Neuroscience) and a proven track record in spatial transcriptomics or extracellular vesicle biology. Additional desirable skills include expertise in single-cell RNAseq, imaging and image analysis, genetic engineering, and experience with zebrafish or other animal models. High motivation, ambition for an academic career, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and fluency in English are essential. Application materials must be submitted in English and include a CV, degree certificate, publication list, research plan, and teaching portfolio if applicable. The position is fully funded for two years, with salary determined by seniority according to Danish collective agreements. Aarhus University provides a supportive environment for international researchers, including relocation services and career counseling for accompanying partners. The application deadline is 20 February 2026, with an expected start date of 1 April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. For further information, contact Associate Professor Yuya Hayashi at [email protected]. Applications must be submitted via the university's recruitment system as detailed in the official job advertisement. Referees should be informed in advance to ensure timely submission of reference letters.
