PhD opportunity at Aalto University in AI, quantum-inspired optimization, and sustainable energy systems . The position is for a Doctoral Researcher in the Multi-energy System Planning and Operation Research Group at the School of Electrical Engineering, working with Assistant Professor Zhengmao Li . The research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence , quantum-inspired optimization , energy-system modelling , and decision-making for complex energy systems . Research themes include renewable energy integration, multi-energy networks, flexibility management, resilient energy infrastructure, green hydrogen, smart grids, ship and port energy systems, and energy-intensive infrastructures such as data centres. The role involves developing mathematical, data-driven, and AI-based models; designing optimization and scheduling methods; exploring quantum-inspired methods; and implementing algorithms in Python, MATLAB, Julia, or similar tools. This is a fully funded doctoral position supported by the Research Council of Finland as part of the SiGMA project.
