About this position

This PhD project investigates the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying knowledge-driven enhancements in visual working memory. The research focuses on how existing knowledge can improve working-memory performance and aims to clarify the cognitive processes responsible for these enhancements.

The project will use a combination of behavioural experiments, electroencephalography (EEG), eye-tracking and computational modelling. This multimethod approach offers training in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience while connecting behavioural performance with neural and computational explanations of working-memory function.

The position is based in the Centre for Brain and Behaviour within the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. The centre provides a research environment focused on brain and behaviour, supporting interdisciplinary work across cognition, neuroscience and experimental methods.

The opportunity is intended for Chinese students eligible for China Scholarship Council funding.
