About this position

Fully funded PhD opportunity at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), United Kingdom, in the College of Business and Law.

The project is titled “Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault at Work: Exploring Legal and HR Blind Spots.” It sits at the intersection of Human Resource Management, Employment Law, Criminal Law, Criminology, Gender-Based Violence, and Workplace Policy and Governance. The research examines how workplace sexual harassment may escalate into sexual assault and how gaps in law, HR practice, organisational policy, and safeguarding can be addressed through evidence-based recommendations.

Funding: full tuition fees for Home and International students, plus a tax-free annual stipend of £21,805 for 3 years (subject to satisfactory progress).

Eligibility: applicants should have at least a First Class or Upper Second Class (2:1) Honours degree in Human Resource Management, Employment Law, Criminal Law, Criminology, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred. Applicants who need proof of English proficiency should have IELTS 7.0 overall or equivalent.

Application materials: a research proposal of up to five pages, academic certificates and transcripts, proof of English language proficiency, and two academic references.

Deadline: 16 August 2026. Programme start: 1 October 2026. Interviews are expected in late August 2026 online.
