About this position

The opportunity is based in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and welcomes doctoral research proposals connected to the expertise of staff in Applied Linguistics and Welsh.
Potential projects may investigate second language acquisition, bilingualism and multilingualism, or the structure, meaning and use of language. Relevant approaches and areas include linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, pragmatics, forensic linguistics, discourse analysis, language technology and education. Supervision may also be arranged jointly with colleagues in Modern Languages, Psychology and Education.
Students will have access to specialist research infrastructure, including two EyeLink Portable Duo eye-trackers and software subscriptions to Gorilla.sc and Qualtrics. They will also join the Language Research Centre, an interdisciplinary research centre bringing together language-related research across Swansea University.
The pathway is coordinated for general enquiries by Dr Xuehong (Stella) He, and applicants are encouraged to align their proposed doctoral project with the research expertise of relevant Swansea staff.
