About this position

The London Interdisciplinary Biosciences Consortium (LIDo) is offering fully funded PhD studentships for September 2027 entry across its DTP and iCASE routes. This is an interdisciplinary doctoral training opportunity in bioscience and biotechnology, with strong emphasis on combining experimental research with AI, machine learning, data science, mathematical modelling, and other computational approaches.

The programme brings together a consortium of universities and specialist partners in London and offers training across biological, physical, chemical, engineering, and computational sciences. DTP students complete two 4-month rotation projects before finalising their PhD topic, while iCASE students begin on a named project from the start and may undertake an extended industrial placement.

Funding is excellent: LIDo is advertising 38 fully funded studentships, including tuition fees and a tax-free stipend of at least £23,805. Up to 7 places may be available at overseas fee rates, with the full fee amount covered by LIDo.

Applicants should hold, or expect to achieve, a first or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent), or an MSci or other Masters degree. The consortium especially welcomes candidates from physical sciences, computer science/AI, engineering, and plant sciences, as well as students from biological, computational, or mathematical backgrounds.

The application window closes on 2026-12-01 at 5pm UK time. Interested applicants should visit the LIDo website for full details, application guidance, and the online application form.
