Honjo International Scholarship

Honjo International Scholarship 2027 is open for international students planning to pursue Master’s or PhD study in Japan.

This is a prestigious private scholarship from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation for students in Japanese graduate schools across all academic fields. Applicants from all countries are welcome, and direct application to the foundation is allowed without university nomination.

Funding: monthly stipend support is provided throughout the minimum period required to complete the degree. The amount is up to ¥230,000/month for 1–2 year degrees, ¥210,000/month for 3-year degrees, and ¥180,000/month for degrees longer than 3 years. Around ten scholarships are available.

Eligibility highlights: foreign students who study or plan to study in a Japanese graduate school for a master’s or doctoral degree; applicants may apply from abroad if accepted to a Japanese graduate school. The application includes an online form, supporting documents, and a short research presentation video.
