About this position
Technical University of Denmark (DTU) Electro is recruiting 4 postdoctoral researchers for a world-leading research group led by Prof. Søren Stobbe. The positions sit at the intersection of nanophotonics, nanomechanics, quantum optics, semiconductor physics, integrated photonics, photonic computing, and quantum information science.
The four projects are: Project A in nanoelectromechanical photonics (nanofabrication and characterization), Project B in hypersonic nanomechanics (theory and characterization), Project C in analog photonic computing (characterization and theory), and Project D in photonic quantum computing (theory). The group emphasizes original research, collaboration, and high-impact publication, with work spanning theoretical modeling, numerical simulations, cleanroom nanofabrication, optical/electromechanical/quantum-optical characterization, and scientific computing.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD or equivalent in physics, electrical engineering, photonics, applied physics, or a closely related field; a strong publication record; excellent English; and relevant hands-on or theoretical experience depending on the project. Useful skills include cleanroom nanofabrication, optical spectroscopy, cryogenic measurements, RF characterization, quantum optics, quantum information science, photonic integrated circuits, Python/Julia, MATLAB, COMSOL, and Lumerical.
The appointment is a 2-year fixed-term postdoctoral position with salary and terms under the Danish collective agreement. This is an academic employment opportunity, not a scholarship. Applicants should indicate which project(s) A, B, C, and/or D they want to pursue and explain how their background aligns.
Deadline: 2 June 2026, 23:59 Danish time. Apply online via the DTU/Nature Careers portal and submit all materials as one PDF: cover letter, CV, academic diplomas (MSc/PhD in English), and publication list.

What's required
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in physics, electrical engineering, photonics, applied physics, or a closely related field. Strong expertise in one or more relevant areas is expected, such as nanophotonics, nanomechanics, cavity optomechanics, quantum optics, semiconductor physics, integrated photonics, photonic computing, quantum information science, or nanofabrication. Depending on the project, experience with cleanroom nanofabrication, optical spectroscopy, cryogenic measurements, high-frequency electrical/RF characterization, quantum optics, quantum information science, photonic integrated circuits, Python/Julia, MATLAB, COMSOL, Lumerical, or similar scientific programming tools is desirable. Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team are required.
