About this position

Lund University is recruiting two tenure-track Assistant Professors (Associate Senior Lecturers) in Computational Science through the Lund University Programme for Global Excellence. This is a strong opportunity for early-career researchers who want to build an independent research profile in a world-class interdisciplinary environment.

The position is based at the Faculty of Science, Lund University, with research connections to established and emerging environments across the faculty and access to major infrastructures such as ESS and MAX IV. Computational science here is broadly defined and may include simulation, modelling, data analysis, software development, and data management for problems in the natural sciences, engineering, or medicine.

The appointment is a 6-year career track with the possibility of promotion to a permanent senior lecturer role. The post includes support for building a research team, with resources corresponding to one doctoral studentship and one postdoctoral position. The university also offers teaching and learning training, Swedish language courses, relocation support, and access to the International Citizen Hub.

Eligibility and requirements include a doctoral degree or equivalent expertise in computational science, preferably within the last 7 years, a strong publication record, a research plan for an innovative project, relevant postdoctoral experience outside the PhD institution, experience in computationally intensive collaboration, teaching ability, student supervision ability, leadership potential, excellent English, and motivation to learn Swedish. For nomination to Swedish Research Council support, candidates must also have documented leadership skills and must not have received a salary or scholarship from Sweden since 31 December 2022.

Applications are submitted via the Lund University recruitment system. The post notes that application deadlines vary across vacancies, with the programme page indicating May–June for the current call. Interested candidates should review the vacancy announcement carefully, prepare the required research plan and supporting documents, and apply through the official portal.
