About this position
This fellowship is hosted by the Air Force Research Laboratory 711 Human Performance Wing through the U.S. Department of Defense and ORISE, with the research location in Bossier City, Louisiana, at Barksdale Air Force Base.
The project is centered on evaluating neurotechnologies designed to enhance and preserve human cognitive and physical performance over extended periods. The fellow will contribute to research on arousal, attention, learning, memory, and multitasking, with the goal of validating candidate neurotechnologies in both simulated and operational environments so they can be transitioned to the warfighter.
Under mentor guidance, the selected participant will join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and military operators and gain hands-on experience in cognitive neuroscience research. Activities include collecting cognitive neuroscience data, learning non-invasive neuromodulation techniques, examining their effects on cognitive performance and subjective mood, and helping create protocols, proposals, technical reports, and presentations related to cognitive modeling.
The 711th Human Performance Wing is part of the Air Force Research Laboratory and focuses on human-centric warfare research, education, and consultation. This appointment offers a research setting that combines human subjects work, operationally relevant experimentation, and collaboration across science and military environments.
