About this position
The Brunk Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a computational postdoctoral researcher to develop and apply methods for integrating single-cell sequencing and imaging data in controlled cell-line model systems.
The project focuses on vertical integration of multimodal single-cell datasets, including single-cell DNA copy number, RNA expression, chromatin accessibility, protein abundance, protein localization, and cytogenetic imaging. The researcher will build computational frameworks linking sequencing-based measurements with imaging-derived single-cell features, including multiplexed protein imaging and AI-assisted cytogenetic image analysis.
The funded research program includes single-cell multi-omics sequencing, 4i protein imaging, CITE-seq validation, and AI-based cytogenetic analysis. Relevant interests include computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, genomics, machine learning, imaging genomics, and quantitative biology.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant computational or quantitative field and strong Python and/or R programming skills. Experience with high-dimensional biological data, especially single-cell sequencing, plus strong statistical reasoning and communication skills is required. Experience with multi-omics integration, microscopy or spatial/protein imaging, machine learning, and tools such as Seurat, Scanpy, scVI, ArchR, Signac, Cell Ranger, MOFA, CellProfiler, napari, ImageJ/Fiji, Cellpose, PyTorch, or TensorFlow is preferred.
This is a full-time, 12-month postdoctoral scholar appointment in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with a hiring range of $47,476–$63,480. Benefits include comprehensive medical and vision coverage, paid leave, and professional development support. Applications require a CV or resume; a cover letter and list of references are optional.
