About this position

We’re hiring a Doctoral Candidate (DC1) at Loughborough University as part of the MSCA DIAMOND Doctoral Network (Decentralized critical Infrastructure Asset Monitoring and coNDition assessment).

The project is hosted in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering and focuses on designing novel dual-mode MEMS sensors for next-generation self-powered sensing in propulsion systems. The research targets hard-to-access locations such as powertrains and aims to close the gap in versatile MEMS sensors for tracking transient torque and motion using mechanical oscillations in rotary systems.

This is a 36-month MSCA-funded PhD-level position with strong training, network-wide secondments, and mobility opportunities across leading academic, industrial, and governmental partners in Europe. Planned secondments include ETH Zürich and AVL.

Eligibility note: applicants should review the MSCA mobility rule carefully; candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the UK for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.

How to apply: read the full vacancy on jobs.ac.uk and submit your application through the linked posting. For enquiries, contact Amal Hajjaj or Stephanos Theodossiades by email.
