About this position
The University of Eastern Finland is advertising six Doctoral Researcher positions within the doctoral programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. The posts are based at the faculty in Kuopio or Joensuu and are linked to the university’s multidisciplinary research environment, where social sciences and business studies are described as theoretically and methodologically diverse and closely connected to the university strategy.
One position will be filled in each of the faculty’s academic units: the Department of Geographical and Historical Studies, UEF Business School, UEF Law School, Department of Health and Social Management, Department of Social Sciences, and the Karelian Institute. The appointed researchers will work in the faculty’s doctoral programme and conduct doctoral research in line with an approved research proposal.
The opening is designed for candidates who are developing their dissertation research within one of these areas and who want to pursue their project in an international, creative, participatory and inclusive university community. The faculty highlights flexible multi-location work and the broader staff environment of the University of Eastern Finland.
The positions are fixed-term doctoral researcher appointments, with the duration determined by the stage of the candidate’s doctoral work and prior related funding or employment. Part-time appointments are possible when combined with external co-funding, while the longer-term aim is to complete the doctorate in a full-time research track.
