About this position
This doctoral position is based at KTH Royal Institute of Technology within the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED). The project sits in the third-cycle subject Sustainability studies and focuses on wetland restoration as a nature-based solution for sustainable water supply under changing climate conditions.
The doctoral student will work on developing policy- and valuation-oriented frameworks that connect wetland indicators with societal benefits and costs, and translate these into practical policy instruments and financing mechanisms. A central part of the project is to generate policy-relevant indicators for the water-related benefits of restored wetlands and to explore how these can support valuation, decision-making, and policy development.
The research also examines the values created by wetland restoration for different stakeholders and for society as a whole, including benefits, costs, and risks, and how these are distributed among actors. The work combines policy analysis, value mapping, socio-economic analysis, and qualitative research methods, and is carried out in close collaboration with researchers and societal stakeholders in two interdisciplinary research projects.
Zahra Kalantari is proposed as supervisor.
