About this position
This postdoctoral fellowship is part of the REACH Nexus thematic project, “Urban climate-health nexus: enhancing health resilience and equity through citizen science, system dynamics modelling and policy innovation.” Hosted by the Institute of Energy and Environment at the University of São Paulo, the project examines how climate extremes affect physical and mental health, climate justice and urban planning in vulnerable communities in Brazil and the Netherlands.
The fellow will contribute to living lab experiments addressing climate extremes and their effects on urban peripheries. The work combines participatory research, citizen science and system dynamics modelling to support the co-creation of climate adaptation measures with local communities. The project’s interdisciplinary environment connects environmental health, urban resilience, socio-environmental studies and urban planning with policy innovation and community-based approaches.
The principal investigator is Professor Pedro Roberto Jacobi at the Institute of Energy and Environment, University of São Paulo. The fellowship is designed for research on the climate-health nexus and the development of equitable, locally grounded responses to climate-related risks.
