About this position
This postdoctoral fellowship is based at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Therapeutic Products in Silver Spring, Maryland. The research environment is centered on CBER’s mission to protect and enhance public health through the regulation of biological and related products, with particular attention to cellular and gene therapies.
The fellow will join a laboratory working on cell and gene therapy projects aimed at improving the safety and efficacy of T cell-based immunotherapies, including CAR-T cells. The work uses advanced manufacturing tools and strategies to better understand the challenges associated with these therapies and to develop novel approaches that can strengthen their performance. The project is explicitly translational and biomedical in nature, connecting laboratory research with the regulation and improvement of biological therapies for human disease.
Under the mentorship of Fei Mo, the participant will gain hands-on experience in laboratory research related to cell and gene therapy and in developing strategies relevant to therapeutic manufacturing and immunotherapy optimization. The fellowship is hosted in a federal research and regulatory setting, giving the participant exposure to the scientific and public-health mission of the FDA and its biologics evaluation work.
The appointment is full time and starts in 2026, with a flexible start date and the possibility of renewal depending on FDA recommendation and funding availability.
