Dr. Vahid Jahangiri, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Systems Engineering at URI, is recruiting a highly motivated PhD student to join his research group in Kingston, Rhode Island, United States.

Research areas: mooring cable dynamics and vibration control; fluid–structure interaction and vortex-induced vibration; offshore and ocean engineering systems.

What the position offers: a fully funded PhD position, with research and teaching assistantship support mentioned in the post. The appointment is expected to start immediately.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a master's degree in mechanical engineering, ocean engineering, or a related field; a strong background in structural dynamics, vibrations, fluid–structure interaction, or numerical modeling; programming experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar languages; and strong communication skills.
