Fully Funded PhD Position in Structural Health Monitoring, Structural Dynamics, and Digital Twins at University of Rhode Island

Fully funded PhD position available for Fall 2027 at the University of Rhode Island in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering, with research focused on structural health monitoring , damage diagnosis and prognosis , structural dynamics , smart sensing , and physics-based and data-driven digital twins . The position is co-advised by Dr. Vahid Jahangiri and Dr. Mehrshad Amini . The research group works on advanced monitoring and digital-twin approaches for complex engineering systems, including interpretable methods for condition assessment, damage detection, long-term monitoring, hybrid physics-based and AI-enabled modeling, and applications to civil and coastal infrastructure. This is a fully funded PhD opportunity. The post mentions a Research Assistantship (RA) and a Teaching Assistantship (TA) , whichever is available. Priority will be given to candidates who are currently in the U.S. and can start immediately.
