Fully funded PhD position available for Fall 2027 at the University of Rhode Island in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering, with research focused on structural health monitoring , damage diagnosis and prognosis , structural dynamics , smart sensing , and physics-based and data-driven digital twins . The position is co-advised by Dr. Vahid Jahangiri and Dr. Mehrshad Amini . The research group works on advanced monitoring and digital-twin approaches for complex engineering systems, including interpretable methods for condition assessment, damage detection, long-term monitoring, hybrid physics-based and AI-enabled modeling, and applications to civil and coastal infrastructure.
