About this position
Georgetown University's Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, within the Walsh School of Foreign Service, is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for the Hillary Rodham Clinton Oral History Project. The project is creating an authoritative archive of spoken recollections and reflections documenting Hillary Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State and the diplomatic, political, and humanitarian contexts in which she worked.
The fellow will contribute to a collaborative research and oral-history initiative, working with the Project Director, Oral History Fellow, Research Coordinator, historians, and other project staff. Core activities include primary and secondary research, preparing interview questions tailored to interviewees and topics, conducting oral-history interviews, and collaborating on the organization and preservation of project materials.
The role offers practical experience in oral-history research and interview production. The fellow may conduct interviews in Washington, D.C., or other locations, apply oral-history best practices, assist with transcription and recording protocols, and help maintain digital interview equipment. The position also involves interview scheduling, travel planning, procurement, document management, and related project administration.
Within the project team, the fellow will help oversee undergraduate and graduate research assistants and support the implementation of project workflows, confidentiality requirements, and intellectual-property protocols. The research environment is fast-paced and collaborative, while requiring independence, careful historical analysis, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
The substantive focus connects diplomatic history, U.S. foreign policy, the Hillary Doctrine, women in foreign policy, and international affairs, with potential relevance to area studies in Africa, East or Southeast Asia, and South America and the Caribbean.
