About this position
Carnegie Mellon University Libraries and Carnegie Mellon University Press are offering a two-year, full-time postdoctoral fellowship focused on computational humanities and publishing. The position sits at the intersection of a new digital humanities initiative and a new imprint for non-traditional, multimodal publishing, giving the fellow a rare chance to work across both community-building and scholarly production.
The fellowship is embedded in the Computational Humanities academic programs and lab space, a new CMU initiative designed to foster community, curriculum, and collaboration where the humanities meet computation. The fellow will help develop the lab as an active scholarly and student-facing environment by organizing events and workshops, supporting coworking and engagement activities, documenting work, maintaining the program’s digital presence, and helping facilitate applied research experiences for students.
On the publishing side, the fellow will work with CMU Press on editorial and production workflows for multimodal publications. This includes coordinating project management, production, and design processes, supporting author communications, and helping establish collaborative digital publishing workflows. The role is strongly oriented toward emerging forms of knowledge production and community-centered scholarly communication.
The post is especially suited to a scholar-practitioner who wants hands-on experience spanning computational humanities, academic publishing, program coordination, and student mentorship within a major research university environment.
