About this position
Junior Researcher Integrated Care and Osteoarthritis at Maastricht University is a research role centered on improving how osteoarthritis care is organised, delivered, and evaluated across Europe.
The project, EUcare4OA, brings together partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden to develop and assess an integrated, community-based care model. The work builds on the Beweeghuis Maastricht-Heuvelland model and aims to make osteoarthritis care more accessible, more sustainable, and better connected to people’s everyday lives.
The appointed researcher will be embedded in a multidisciplinary environment spanning CAPHRI (Care and Public Health Research Institute), Beweeghuis Maastricht-Heuvelland, and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Maastricht University Medical Center+. The role sits within a team that includes orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, researchers, general practitioners, exercise coaches, policymakers, and patient representatives.
Day-to-day research activities include comparative analysis of osteoarthritis care models, collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data, reviewing literature, synthesising evidence, and supporting interviews, focus groups, and co-creation workshops. The position also contributes to the development and evaluation of integrated osteoarthritis care pathways, pilot implementation in regional care networks, and dissemination through reports, publications, and presentations.
This is a project where research is closely tied to practice: the successful candidate will help translate findings into real-world care pathways and collaborate with international partners throughout the project.
