About this position

Logomix Co., Ltd., a Tokyo University of Science spin-off biotech venture, is recruiting a Laboratory Automation Scientist/Engineer for its Research and Development Department in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The role sits at the intersection of biology, biomedical engineering, computer science, and information technology, with a strong focus on automating wet-lab workflows for AI drug discovery and synthetic biology.

The company’s core technology is Geno-Writing™, a large-scale genome construction platform used to create tailored cell lines and cell systems for clients across pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and electronics. The successful candidate will help convert manual cell culture and genome editing protocols into automated cell culture and liquid handling systems, while also building the data infrastructure needed to support reliable AI-driven analysis.

Key responsibilities include designing experimental data schemas for images, sequences, QC logs, and other outputs; developing tools and pipelines that hand data over to downstream AI analysis; coordinating automation workflows with wet-lab researchers; maintaining databases, experimental records, and error logs; troubleshooting equipment; and helping establish process management, risk analysis, quality control, and manuals for scale-up.

This is a fixed-term contract role (1 year) with a plan for conversion to permanent employment by mutual agreement. Salary is listed at 5 million to 11 million yen annually, depending on level and experience. The position includes standard social insurance coverage and commuting allowance up to 20,000 yen per month.

Applicants should have a doctoral or master’s degree, programming ability in any language, experience building data processing/analysis logic, and hands-on experience with cell culture and genome editing. Helpful extras include experience with lab automation platforms (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Opentrons, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Agilent, Revvity, Eppendorf, SPT Labtech, Formulatrix, Andrew Alliance, Gilson), iPS cell culture, AI-agent-based programming, bioinformatics, and reproducible workflow tools such as Snakemake, Nextflow, or Airflow.

Application deadline: 2026-12-31. Apply by email with an electronic resume and CV to [email protected].
