About this position
The LB Korean Studies Postdoctoral Associate is a non-teaching research residency hosted by the Cornell East Asia Program and the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University. The program supports advanced scholarship that deepens understanding of Korea in the contemporary world and encourages comparative, global, and interdisciplinary approaches.
The opportunity is open to scholars working across broadly conceived humanities disciplines. Potential areas include Korean literature and history as well as environmental humanities, material culture, Indigenous studies, the blue humanities, gender studies, and Asian American studies. The selection committee seeks research with the potential to cultivate dialogue, strengthen collaboration across disciplines, and integrate existing contributions to Korean studies.
The postdoctoral scholar will be based within the East Asia Program and the Einaudi Center for International Studies, while engaging with mentors and peers across Cornell. The research environment includes Korean studies events and activities, opportunities to participate in relevant center initiatives, and access to Cornell’s academic facilities, library collections, and research resources. The scholar will carry out an independent research program, contribute to the Cornell Korean studies community, and present research to the EAP and Cornell community. Undergraduate teaching is optional and may be arranged if desired.
