About this position
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year appointment in applied analysis and related areas of applied and computational mathematics. The position is connected to the NSF RTG grant “Frontiers of Applied Analysis”, placing the postdoc in a research environment centered on contemporary analysis and its interfaces with computation.
The advertised research scope is broad and includes partial differential equations, calculus of variations, probability and stochastic analysis, numerical analysis, and scientific machine learning. The department also highlights interest in interdisciplinary efforts, suggesting opportunities to work across mathematical subfields and potentially connect analysis with emerging computational directions.
This is a postdoctoral opening within Carnegie Mellon’s Mathematical Sciences department in Pittsburgh, where the successful candidate will join a program supported by NSF RTG funding. The position may be extended to a third year depending on funding continuation and performance.
