The University of Sherbrooke in Canada is offering PhD and postdoctoral positions focused on membrane-based biogas purification and upgrading. The project aims to develop advanced membrane technologies to enhance renewable energy production by selectively separating impurities and CO2 from raw biogas, producing high-purity biomethane. Research activities include membrane material synthesis, surface modification, gas purification, process design, and system evaluation.

The positions are co-supervised by Prof. Wen Ma and Prof. Federico Galli in the chemical and biotechnological department, with additional collaboration from industrial and international partners.

Candidates should have a strong background in chemical engineering, especially in membrane science, gas separation, and materials synthesis. The PhD position offers CAD 23,000 – 26,000 in the first year, with annual increases and scholarship opportunities. The postdoc position offers CAD 45,000 – 50,000 in the first year, with potential to reach CAD 60,000 with additional fellowships.
