About this position
This PhD project at Tilburg University’s Department of Strategy & Entrepreneurship explores employeneurship: how employees who behave like entrepreneurial professionals can create value for themselves, their employer, and client organizations. The post sits within the CentER PhD / Strategy & Entrepreneurship environment at Tilburg School of Economics and Management, where research and teaching are closely connected and interdisciplinary collaboration is part of the culture.
The project asks how employeneurship should be defined in relation to related concepts in the literature, how it can be measured so that future employeneurs can be identified within organizations, and how it affects outcomes across multiple levels: the individual worker, the employer organization, and the client firm. The advert highlights the strategic importance of attractive employment practices and organizational design in periods of labor scarcity, and the project is intended to provide clearer insight into how employers can foster internal talent and strategic value.
The doctoral researcher will work with other researchers and with employers and employees to examine how entrepreneurial behavior inside organizations can be understood and explained. The project combines quantitative and qualitative methods, including literature review, interviews, focus groups, survey-based data collection, and experiments. It emphasizes open science and team science, and it aims to generate findings that are relevant both for international academic debate and for practice.
Alongside research, the PhD candidate will contribute to teaching in bachelor’s and/or master’s courses in internal entrepreneurship and will support related coordination, supervision, and assessment tasks. The position is embedded in a department that describes itself as research-led, collegial, and internationally connected, with strong publication ambitions and links to business practice.
