About this position

CEITEC MU at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic is recruiting a PhD Candidate in (Un) Structural Biology of Wnt Signaling in the Konstantinos Tripsianes Research Group.

The project focuses on Wnt signaling and the central hub protein Dishevelled (DVL), with emphasis on how conformational plasticity, phosphorylation, partner binding, self-assembly, and intrinsic disorder regulate signal routing. The research combines structural biology and biophysical approaches including NMR, X-ray, cryo-EM, FRET, ITC, and BLI, together with cellular readouts such as TopFlash and BRET and proteomics.

Candidates may choose among three open questions related to DVL function: whether disorder expands the functional space of structured domains, whether phosphorylation follows a direction/order/hierarchy across S/T sites and clusters, and how intrinsic disorder relates to liquid-liquid phase separation and droplet formation.

Applicants should hold an MSc degree (preferably in Life Sciences) and have a strong interest in structural biology and biomolecular NMR. Experience in structural biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology methods is required, along with good English communication skills, teamwork, and a motivated, curiosity-driven mindset. Programming skills are a plus.

The position is full-time with an attractive salary and access to CEITEC MU core facilities. Benefits include flexible working hours, professional development support, paid holiday, medical insurance, meal and pension/kindergarten contributions, Multisport card, mental health care, sports lessons, and on-campus kindergarten.

Deadline: 23 December 2026. Start date: immediately or upon agreement. Applications should include a CV, publication list, and motivation letter with contact details for at least two references, and must be submitted through the e-application portal.
