About this position

PhD opportunity at the University of Strasbourg in collaboration with CNRS / ICPEES and the MICHELIN Group.

The project is titled Eco-friendly fabrication of bio-inspired supramolecular adhesive membranes by electrospinning. It sits at the intersection of polymer science, materials chemistry, physical chemistry, bio-inspired adhesives, supramolecular materials, and advanced electrospinning.

The successful PhD candidate will work in a highly collaborative academic-industrial environment, with research carried out mainly at ICPEES in Strasbourg and with planned stays at Michelin’s Technology Center in Clermont-Ferrand. The work is embedded in the joint SpinLab research framework focused on electrospinning nanofibrous materials and environmentally friendly processing routes.

Research tasks include developing composite nanofibrous membranes by electrospinning, controlling nano-/micro-fibrous architectures and local chemical composition, correlating structure with physico-chemical properties, and investigating adhesive and mechanical performance under different conditions. The project also involves microscopy, electrospinning/electrospraying, and mechanical characterization.

Eligibility highlights: an engineering degree or Master’s degree in polymer materials physico-chemistry and/or materials chemistry; strong experimental skills; independence and initiative; teamwork; communication skills; and good written and spoken English.

Funding is through a doctoral contract for 36 months. No stipend amount is specified in the post.

Deadline: 15 June 2026.

How to apply: email a cover letter and complete CV to [email protected], together with transcripts and any supporting documents requested in the attached file.
