About this position

PhD opportunity at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the NanoComputing Research Lab, Department of Electrical Engineering, for students interested in 2D materials, energy-efficient sensors, and computing hardware. The project focuses on developing atomically thin materials and devices for next-generation sensing and brain-inspired computing hardware.

You will work on growth and processing of large-area 2D materials such as MoS₂ and WSe₂, optimize transfer to target substrates, develop scalable fabrication processes in the TU/e cleanroom (NanoLab@TU/e), engineer metal–semiconductor and dielectric interfaces, and characterize materials/devices while collaborating with circuit designers.

Supervision will be provided by Dr. Abhishek Singh Dahiya and Prof. Aida Todri-Sanial. The position is embedded in the Integrated Circuits group and offers access to state-of-the-art cleanroom and characterization facilities.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in electrical engineering, nanotechnology, or a related field, with a strong background in semiconductor materials and device physics. Preferred experience includes CVD growth of nanomaterials/2D materials, nanofabrication (ALD, lithography, etching), and 2D material transfer. A research-oriented attitude, teamwork skills, willingness to teach/mentor, and C1-level English are required.

This is a full-time PhD position for four years with an intermediate assessment after nine months. Salary is in scale P (gross €3,204–€4,051 per month full-time), plus holiday allowance and year-end bonus. The post is located in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Apply online via the application portal. Submit a cover letter, CV including publications, and contact details for three references. The vacancy remains open until filled, but the posted last application date is 19 November 2026.
